Short Bio
Branislav Strugar was born in Belgrade in 1949. He has been engaged in photography since 1968. From 1970 until 1979 he participated in 107 art photography exhibitions and won about 40 different awards and diplomas. As a member of the Applied Artists and Designers Association of Serbia (ULUPUDS) Strugar participates in exhibitions of fine art works. He is active as a jury member in numerous exhibitions of photography and he lectured about photography in college, photography workshops and courses of photography.
         Simultaneously with artistic work Strugar professionally deals with photography since 1974. He was hired as a photo-reporter in the TV Belgrade News Program where he had worked for twenty-two years. He left his job in 1996 and received the status of an independent artist of photography.
         In 1993 Strugar and his wife Vlatka Rubinjoni Strugar established the publishing company Studio Strugar Publishers. The basic idea was: the promotion of Branislav Strugar's photographs. This meant exclusively creating products where photography had the primary role: brochures, catalogues, calendars, postcards, posters, and finally monographs.
         Over 10,000 of his recordings can be found in domestic and foreign books, magazines, calendars, travel brochures, promotional materials and posters. He published 13 author's monographs and held 24 solo exhibitions.
         Branislav Strugar has title of Master Photographer of Photo Association of Yugoslavia.
         In 2002, the Applied Artists and Designers Association of Serbia awarded him the title of Prominent Artist of Photography of ULUPUDS.
         In 2008, ULUPUDS awarded Branislav Strugar the Lifetime Achievement Award "for overall creativity and contribution to the development of applied arts and design".
